This project in Naremburn is a new home in a charming street. The compliance was through a Development Application through Willoughby Council.
The project is a new family home, which can accommodate a family with active boys, and visiting family members. The client’s high priority was to ensure that the house performed well as a sustainable home. Size was considered from the beginning of the design, and areas were kept beautiful but tight, reducing materials and finishes. The house orientation and roof design allowed for a large north facing solar array, and northern windows for winter sun. The heating is electric powered hydronic heating under the parquetry flooring. The insulation and double glazing creates a stable environment which remains warm in winter and cool in summer with minimal energy input. There is grey water recycling off the washing machine for the garden and large tanks underneath the deck for re-use in the house. All paint is Resene zero VOC . Keeping a large back yard was very important to the growing family, and a new pool completed the design.
Contemporary Architecture was involved throughout the whole project, from design through to the end of construction.
