This heritage listed home in the Ku-Ring-Gai Council municipality had been subjected to multiple additions over the years to the point where the house had lost a lot of its original character. This project focused on bringing back the character of the existing house and adding a new modern addition at the rear which was distinctly different from the original.
The new addition is over 3 levels with the basement, gym and wine cellar on the lower level, living, dining and kitchen on the ground level and parents retreat on the upper level. A new lift connects the 3 levels. The ground level and the upper level are tied back into the existing house with a link structure, creating a dramatic height in the main living space.
The new rear garden had an existing pool which was removed and re-built with easy access to the new outdoor entertaining area. The new addition is surrounded by landscape with the western side angled and opened up with windows to maximise the sun from the north west
The project was a Development Application through Ku-Ring-Gai Council.
