Alterations and additions to an existing home within Artarmon Conservation Area, Willoughby Council.
In this home, the original front section of the house was renewed and retained to stay in keeping with the neighbourhood character, and a two-storey addition was built at the rear. The open plan kitchen, living and dining area is characterized by a high vaulted ceiling with painted timber lining boards and large doors that flow onto the outside decks and new pool. This lower ground floor also accommodates amenities such as the laundry and mudroom. Upstairs the house has a master suite, bedrooms, bathrooms, a study and second living area also with a vaulted ceiling. The aesthetics of the house include a more traditional exterior combined with contemporary detailing internally and incorporates quality, natural finishes for a fresh and warm feeling space.
DA approval took four months and the entire project took just over two years from beginning to end. Contemporary Architecture was involved in all stages of the design, approval, construction documentation, interior design and contract administration.
