ARTARMON HOUSE 2

Alterations and additions to the existing 1920's bungalow in the Artarmon Conservation Area of Willoughby City Council.

The existing home had a 1980's first floor addition and rear alterations. The first floor addition had steep stairs dominating the hallway. The rear additions had a very large deck elevated high above the existing back yard.

The focus of the design was to integrate the house with the rear yard, move the stairs to return the hallway to its former glory, and add new living/dining/kitchen on the lower level and new kids zone on the upper levels. The stair became the focal point of the house, wrapping around four levels.

The entire project took 2 years from the beginning to the end. Contemporary Architecture was involved in all stages of design, documentation and contract administration. Contemporary Architecture designed the kitchen, laundry, study and bathrooms to the clients specifications, working with Jacinta Preston who added lights, furnishings and colours
