ARTARMON HOUSE 1

Alterations and additions to the existing 1930's bungalow in the Artarmon Conservation Area of Willoughby City Council.

The existing home was "modernized" in the 1960's with every window replaced with aluminium windows, details removed, rear additions which were poorly built and at some stage the front verandah was filled in.

The focus of the design was to add a new level for the children, whilst maintaining the 3 metre high ceilings of the ground floor. The rear additions were removed and replaced with new living / dining / kitchen. The front verandah was reinstated. A new garage and carport were added along the side and a pool added in the rear yard.

The entire project took 2 years from the beginning to the end. Contemporary Architecture was involved in all stages of design, documentation and contract administration. We designed the kitchen, laundry, study, bathrooms, living room joinery and pool to the clients specifications.
